The team has confirmed that the error rate has dropped to zero, with several successful checkouts observed and orders starting to come in. The PayPal button is also back in the cart for example shoppers; hence, the case status is being moved to “Contained.”

UPDATE:
The support team has informed us that Braintree is currently experiencing a service disruption, as reflected on their status page. This is not intermittent — the issue is on Braintree’s side, causing failures in the commerce checkout flow. The next update will be provided within 30 minutes or less.
